Believe it or not, I'm actually writing a Privacy Policy for this site. I have professed to hating junk email so I might as well make clear my position on this issue...this is a work in progress (started 3.2006)
About Browser Compatibility
If you're using Firefox, Netscape or whatever and this site doesn't look or behave right, my apologies. It's not that I have such a deep abiding love for Microsoft or Internet Explorer, it's just that I needed to get something running quickly and just didn't have the time to worry about different browsers. Hopefully SiteSpinner will have some of that sorted for me.
Due to the way SiteSpinner works, you need to leave font size hinting on in IE (if you don't know what this is, you probably have it set OK. The text will show up all over the page if you have it set wrong. See the last paragraph below for how to change this if you really feel you must!)
More about SiteSpinner
I never had the patience and discipline to sit and design and code an entire website. I've looked for years for a web designer and have not found but one willing to work for me -- and he died! (R.I.P. Andy)
I managed to limp along using Adobe GoLive 5 on my Macintosh. While that's an excellent program, maybe it offered too much control for me. Finally in Summer 2005 I hit upon the Virtual Mechanics tool SiteSpinner V2 which had an unbeatable combination of easy use, clean output and cheap price! Yes I know that this sounds like a rather poorly written ad but it's actually the truth in this case...try out the demo for yourself. The great thing about the demo is that it's a 15 day period, and days that you don't use the demo don't count against the 15 days! But still for US$49 you can scarcely go wrong.
After using SS for a couple weeks now, I have to say I have got MORE done on my website per hour than with ANY other tool.
Another formatting note...
Every site has a different idea about how to use fonts, what size, etc. In IE I tend to go to Tools > Internet Options > Accessibility > Formatting and check "Ignore font sizes specified on web pages"; then I can select my own font size from View > Text Size. But if you do this my pages will look real ugly -- uglier than usual! Hopefully the font size and style I use strikes a good balance between readability and density...
