This was a piece called "Acid Pants" from a recent Orbital record which I particularly found intriguing due to samples from one of my favorite bands of all time, Sparks. I further piled on the interwoven references by incorporating a sample from a song on their record Plagiarism.

I went through a phase in 2003 and 2004 where I was playing with remixes. It started with a tune that Quiloc gave me that he wrote in Reason. I foozled around with it, changed the arrangement a little and added the odd loop and sample. This led me to (e.g.) the m-audio website where they had a "Sasha remix competition" and others...
Currrently, most of these can be found on my acidplanet page (if that's still active) but I will eventually get them on this site as well.

Maybe this isn't so bad after all... The track "Quasiuumo" on MMIV started with a long sample called "quasi" that came with a long forgotten software effects package called "Hyperprism". I really liked the atmospherics of this but it didn't do anything. So I added a bunch of drum loops, a guitar part, some other noises, looped the middle of it so it was longer and hey presto, cool song. I think I've done enough to it that I can be considered an author or at least a remixer--where do you draw the line? Maybe I should make the original sample available along with my reworking of it and ask you what you think.

Get Involved This is the abovementioned piece which is a remix of loops provided by Sasha from the "Involver" CD. I just recently listened to it again and remixed my whole piece since it seemed awful wimpy. Put this up late January 2006.
